What is a lime rotary kiln? Lime rotary kiln, also called limestone rotary kiln, is an automatic calcination furnace for manufacturing quicklime. It is the crucial equipment in a lime calcination plant, in which limestone and other calcium carbonate ores are calcined at a high temperature of 1100±50°C. Lime rotary kiln has large annual output and wide fuel adaptability. It can burn gas, pulverized coal or mixed coal and gas, and is widely used in the metallurgy industry, chemical industry, cement industry, papermaking industry, etc.

Based on the complete analysis of raw materials, we have specially designed the air volume and height of the preheater.

The lime kiln uses advanced composite refractory bricks, which effectively reduce radiant heat loss and significantly increase the service life of refractory materials.
The limestone rotary kiln is equipped with a padding-type vertical cooler with zoned ventilation, which reduces the lime temperature to 65°C + ambient temperature for easy transportation and storage. At the same time, the kiln secondary air is preheated to above 700°C. It is helpful for complete combustion of fuel.




AGICO Lime Rotary Kiln Calcination System

Vertical Preheater: undertakes the task of heat transfer of limestone and 30% decomposition of calcium carbonate.
Structure
Feeding System: It mainly includes the silo and the feeding pipe. It can ensure complete sealing when feeding so that cold air from the outside cannot enter the preheater.
Main Body: It is an important part where the limestone is preheated to about 900°C. It is mainly composed of the preheater cylinder, material distribution arch, suspension device, and refractory bricks. Most of the parts are metal components, and some of them are made of heat-resistant steel as needed as heat-resistant steel can work at a high temperature of 1000 ~ 1100℃.
Hydraulic Push Rod Device: It mainly includes the push rod, frame, and connecting rod. The push rod is made of heat-resistant steel. With the help of the electronic control box hydraulic system, the push rod can push materials in sequence through the automatic control program.
Working Principle
Limestone enters the preheater through the top silo and the feeding pipe and is then preheated to above 900°C by the high-temperature flue gas introduced from the rotary kiln to complete the partially decomposed. The preheated limestone is pushed into the rotary kiln by a hydraulic push rod for calcination, and the exhaust gas is collected through the outlet hole on the upper part of the preheater and enters the exhaust gas treatment system at the end of the kiln.

Rotary Kiln: undertakes the remaining decomposition tasks.
Structure
Supporting System: It includes a kiln tyre, support roller, support roller seat, etc., which play a supporting role in the entire kiln system.
Sealing System: It is composed of kiln head sealing and kiln tail sealing. The main purpose is to reduce air leakage and improve the working environment.
Transmission System: It includes a girth gear, pinion, reducer, motor, etc., which drives the rotary kiln to rotate.
Burning System: It is composed of a coal-injection duct, air blower, etc. It provides a heat source for kiln calcination.
Kiln Body: It includes a kiln shell, liner, etc., which is the main place for lime calcination.
Working Principle
Limestone is fed into the kiln through the kiln tail (high-end) chute. Due to the tilt and slow rotation of the cylinder, one side of the limestone rolls along the circumference, and the other side moves axially from the kiln tail (high end) to the kiln head (low end). At the same time, the burner emits heat, heating the rotary kiln. Limestone continuously heats up in the rotary kiln and undergoes physical and chemical reactions, ultimately forming quicklime.

Vertical Cooler: undertakes the task of finished product cooling and heat recovery.
Main Purpose
The vertical cooler prevents the lime clinker from continuing to react under high temperatures after being discharged from the kiln. Rapid cooling is beneficial for improving production efficiency and facilitating transportation and storage. In addition, it can obtain high-quality and high-temperature combustion air by rapidly cooling the lime clinker.
Working Principle
The cross-section of the cooler is square, and there are evenly distributed central cooling air hoods and compartment cooling air hoods inside. The air hood is connected to the external fan through a pipeline, and there are discharge ports at the bottom of the cooler. Each discharge port is set with a vibration unloader below. Lime clinker accumulates and covers the air hood inside the cooler, forming a certain thickness.
Cooling air is blown in by the external fan, enters the air hood through the air chamber, and then comes into contact with a high-temperature lime clinker to complete the heat exchange. The cooled lime is discharged from the cooler by the vibrating unloader, and the hot air is directly fed into the rotary kiln through the kiln head cover as secondary air for calcination.
