What is Quicklime? Active lime or quicklime is mainly made of limestone, dolomite, chalk, and other ores with high calcium carbonate content, which are calcined at a high temperature of 1100±50°C. It has the characteristics of white color, lightweight, less heat content, fast cooling, strong reaction with water, and so on. It is widely used in construction, metallurgy, chemical industry, environmental protection, medicine, agriculture, and many other fields.
Lime Production Process
The quicklime production process can be divided into rotary kiln production process and vertical kiln production process. The process selection is determined by many factors, such as investment cost, fuel usage, raw material particle size, capacity requirements, environmental protection requirements, etc.
1. Raw Material Preparation
Limestone and other raw ores are sent to the jaw crusher by the vibrating feeder and crushed to 10-50mm. After that, the crushed ores are screened by the vibrating screen and delivered to the kiln by the belt conveyor for calcination.
2. Limestone Calcination
The prepared limestone undergoes a series of physical and chemical reactions after being calcined at a temperature above 1000°C in a rotary kiln or shaft kiln to form quicklime, which is then discharged after being cooled to an ambient temperature.
3. Quick Lime Grinding
At this stage, the finished quicklime enters the vertical mill or Raymond mill for a further particle size reduction. After a series of processes of grinding, grading, collecting, and re-grinding, the quicklime reaches the required particle size. Afterward, it is sent by bucket elevators and conveyors to packaging machines for bagging.
4. Flue Gas Treatment
After heat exchange with limestone, the flue gas produced by calcination enters the cyclone dust collector for primary dust collection and then enters the bag filter for secondary dust collection. Then, it is discharged into the atmosphere by the high-temperature fan. The dust concentration of the exhaust gas is less than 30mg/m3.
